PAULIE The Best Cat Ever August 2003 - July 2nd 2009

Paulie was as independent and feisty as a cat's cat should be and more so, yet he was intwined into the very heart of our family, into our hearts. He was one who loved when he wanted, on us, on the dogs and with some chosen neighbors. He ruled the roust, bossing the dogs around, demanding which doors be opened when. He meoweled sensually, hunted vigorously, slept with abandon. He seemed to relish being pulled in all directions by Ollie, whether that was by fur, tail or leg. Either that or it was just beneath his dignity to get up and move. Best Friends Not To Be I am afraid. He was the cat who was less of everything for being confined indoors. His transition to mouse-terrorizor of the neighborhood last summer cost him his life this summer but gave him a joy that radiated out of his lush coat and roxy voice. He followed our mile-long walks around the neighborhood and died one night by a busy intersection, never to be seen again and I hope to have been dragged away by some other wild lovely creature. That part only would be a fitting end to a wild lovely creature who touched our lives. He is missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Paulie, but I know he was a wonderfully lucky creature to have been a part of your family for a while. Thank you for sharing the photos and your thoughts of Paul. My thoughts are with you!

Heb,

You are right - it is an awesome post! Great tribute to a great and fearsome cat. I love the walking on the shower rod picture -classic - he was certainly into everything. I know you all will miss him.
